Souk Al Bahar Archways
Long before the skyscrapers, this coast lived by the sea, and this market's very name salutes the people who worked it. Stroll the lakeside face of the souk and let your eyes wander over warm, sandy walls and a parade of archways. Picture lantern light and the chatter of traders. It's a modern building in an old-world costume, and it wears it well.
Souk Al Bahar Bridge
This bridge is one of the city's favorite front-row seats. Pause partway across and take it all in: water on both sides, a needle of a tower soaring overhead, and a very big neighbor waiting on the far shore. Every view from here looks like a postcard. Find a spot by the railing, keep the walkway clear for others, and soak up the scene.
Burj Lake Waterfront
Calm water, a glassy surface and the world's tallest tower doubling itself in the reflection: this lakeside walk is quietly spectacular. Hidden below the surface sits a choreographed fountain system longer than two soccer fields, built by the team behind a famous Las Vegas water show. Find a spot along the rail and scan the water for clues.
Dubai Opera Dhow Facade
Squint a little and this glassy building looks ready to set sail. Its designers looked to the region's past, when wooden boats carried pearls, fish and trade goods across the Gulf. Check out the walls of glass, the slats that shade them, and the curving sculpture standing out front like a souvenir from the sea. All aboard for sharp-eyed sleuthing!
Khalvat Sculpture
A shiny, shell-like form rises here, looking a bit like a cut gem that someone has peeled open. Walk around it slowly and peek inside, where something glimmers. The artist borrowed a Persian word for a hidden, private sanctuary, a fitting name for a sculpture that saves its best secret for the curious. Look closely, but hands off!
Declaration Calligraphy Wall
Bold pink letters burst out of a long wall here, twisting and stacking like they're mid-dance. This is Arabic calligraphy set loose in three dimensions by an artist famous for blending traditional script with street art style. The words come from the city's ruler and celebrate what art reveals about a nation. Step back to take in its full length.
Twin Figures Sculpture
Two towering figures stand side by side here, carved from two strikingly different stones. Dressed in traditional Gulf clothing, the pair celebrates how a man and a woman can be different yet alike, and each figure stands more than twice the height of an adult. Step back to see how their contrast plays against the skyline.
