Kuwait National Museum
Kuwait National Museum was established in 1983 and designed by Michel Écochard as multiple buildings organized around a central garden, echoing the plan of a vernacular courtyard house. Its main sections are commonly listed as heritage, archaeology, the planetarium, and the historic dhow Al Muhallab, making the complex both architectural and educational.
Al Bader House
Bait Al-Bader is a surviving pre-oil Kuwaiti house, reported as built between 1837 and 1847 and later used as a building for the Kuwait National Museum in the late 1970s. Its courtyards and traditional materials document how elite homes handled climate, privacy, and reception spaces in old Kuwait City.
Heritage Masjed Alsharhan
Masjid Al-Sharhan is a heritage mosque in the Qibla area, reported as built in 1813 (1278 AH). It is also reported as renovated in 1956. Its position near the national museum area makes it one of the preserved pre-oil religious landmarks in the city’s transformed urban core.
Masjed Alharoun (Masjed Saeed) - Heritage
Masjed Saeed Heritage (also listed as Masjed Alharoun) is mapped as a heritage mosque in Kuwait City and is reported by visitors as located right next to the National Library of Kuwait. Access is often limited outside prayer times, so the most reliable evidence comes from exterior signage, posted prayer-time information, and the building’s preserved exterior features.
National Library of Kuwait
The National Library of Kuwait serves as the country’s legal-deposit and copyright library and traces its roots to 1923, with a formal state order establishing it by Amiri Decree No. 52/1994. Its mission is preservation: collecting, organizing, and documenting Kuwait’s intellectual and cultural output, with an official website supporting public access.
Sadu House
Sadu House is a museum and cultural center dedicated to Sadu weaving and textile heritage, established by the Al Sadu Society in 1980. The society’s site describes the house as built in 1936 by Youssef Al Marzouk, with multiple open courtyards and seafront orientation, later acquired for cultural heritage work and exhibitions.
